An utterly attractive beachhouse, right on the IJsselmeer…. !
Totally wood-built, this small but elegant wooden cabin is looking out over the IJsselmeer and the lighthouse of Workum. The beach is at twenty steps from the house. The beach is a kiters, windsurfers and stand-up-paddle-boarders paradise. This small house is elegant, comfortable and ecologically sound.
The camping is quiet and largely car-free. Between 23:00 and 07:00 hours the port is closed making car-traffic impossible. Electrical music is not allowed at this camping and neither are ‘towers of beer’.
Workum beach borders Warkummerwaard that hosts a great many species of birds. It is a beautiful but restricted natural reserve and bird sanctuary. Gadwall, eurasian, shoveler, garganey, gamecock and mallard fourage and live there. As a consequence, these birds can often be seen at the camping which is as happy as it is surprising.
The small city of Workum is situated in the South-West part of Frysland. There are seperate bike lanes through the country-side for leisure and tourists. You can bike from Workum to Heeg and Balk through the meadows using old-fashioned ferries and often not meet a single person on your way.
Activities in Workum :
